FARMING CIVILISATION AND THE ‘TENOR’ CHANT MUSEUM

This is an opportunity to discover the history, culture and religion of the Sardinian people. The museum is located in the town centre and offers twenty rooms detailing the local tradition. Manyitems depict the daily routine and the different tools describe the hard labour of man. The area dedicated to the tenors singing includes a large collection of footage showing this rare
music – something not seem anywhere else in the world. Interactive totems encourage visitors to engage in using their voice.


THE NURAGIC VILLAGE OF SU ROMANZESU

This village is considered one of the most important Nuraghic villages in Sardinia. Su Romanzesu is located in the Poddi Arvu area, about 10 km from Bitti along the road to Mamone, surrounded by a cork oak forest and positioned on a granite plateau. Dating back to the sixteenth century BC the village consists of a housing complex of about one hundred huts and many buildings for cultural purposes. Of real note is the unique large amphitheatre. Witness a civilization ‘thousands of years’ old.


NATURAL PARK, “CRASTAZZA LITTOS TEPILORA”

This soon to be regional park offers many hiking trails for all skill levels, from the waterfall S’Illiorai to the Tepilora pools with water lilies to the magnificent view of the “Sa Donna” peak.There are numerous springs and picnic spots. This area has wonderful animal life – of particular importance is the wild cat, wild sheep, eagle and Sardinian deer. You don’t need to be an expert to spot these beautiful creature. Montalbo in Lula of particularly importance geographically is the massive dolomite limestone, over 20 km long and 4 km wide. The highest point reaches 1127
metres. The sides are characterized by sharp canals, canyons and depressions where you can visit caves and “domus de Janas” (the legendary fairy house) and admire the flora and fauna that is threatened with extinction. You can also find traces of human presence thanks to the primitive dwellings “sos pinnettos” (typical shepherd huts).


SOS ENATTOS IN LULA

Sos Enattos is part of the “parco geominerario della Sardegna” (Sardinian geomining park) sponsored by Unesco. Today you can visit this Roman lead mine (atic zicifera), view the ages and stages of its exploitation and its interesting road of industrial archeology and art mining. Sos Enattos provides the opportunity to discover another side of this wonderful island.


TEMPIESU ORUNE

Visitors will be amazed at this wonderfully preserved archaeological site from the 2nd millennium BC. This is one of the best examples of construction of the distant past.


NURAGHE VOES NULE

This is the great Nuraghe in the territory of Nule. Nuraghe is a mound of immense stones made it up like a puzzle, thousands of years old. Close by is Nule, the capital of traditional wool rugs. There are many craft shops where you can buy exclusive masterpieces.


THE MUSEUMS

“Deleddiano” an archaeological museum, an important museum “Del costume” and the modern art museum “Man”. If you go to the capital of “Barbagia”, the Supramonte mountain is a tramper’s paradise.


THE EAST COAST

With a short drive on a good road with little traffic (even in August) you can visit a different beach every day from Bitti: Berchida, Orosei, Cala Gonone and Cartoe are all within 30 to 50
minutes by car. Relax by the sea and then return to the coolness of the hills and all the magic that Bitti has to offer.
